Leads are the lifeblood of a successful and growing company.
(Unless of course you like staying in the same place, or dealing with inconsistent weeks.)
So how do you get more leads, more often?
After working with hundreds of local businesses, we can be 100% certain that the Google Business Profile provides the cheapest and highest intent leads, so it's the most important method to focus on first.
But there is a monthly limit (more on that in a bit)... But 99.99% of businesses never reach that limit... Even after making $50-250k/month in revenue.
So how do you reach your lead flow limit?
Step one is getting your Google Business Profile optimized. (This is assuming you already have one set up.)
But I'm sure a few questions may arise after hearing the word "optimize"...
For example:
- What does optimization even mean or look like?
- What exactly changes, what stays the same?
- What are the actual results?
- What businesses does this work for?The answer for this one is: every business except restaurants and ecomm stores.
Before I answer the first 3 questions, let me give you a clearer picture by telling you what this won't do, so the answers make more sense.
It's important to understand that just paying a one time amount of $50, $100, $200 to any agency will not explode your business forever.
So this will not get you 100 brand new people calling a week just because of this optimization.
Marketing is an ongoing thing. (This should not be a surprise.)
Question 01What does optimization even mean or look like?
The first reason for optimization is to set the foundation. If we want to reach our lead limit on Google, we need to start from a strong profile.
So we establish the services, categories, descriptions with perfection and make sure there are no duplicates, keyword stuffing, or missing services.
Sounds simple... but we see businesses get it wrong time and time again.
Most people stuff their service tab incorrectly. They put in random services or descriptions that they just think of, instead of putting in what actually works based on Google's preferences.
For example, don't do this:
Service name + city, multiple times over"$100 adjustment promotion deal"These are just a few examples of incorrect labeling.
You need to keep the services and descriptions exactly how Google wants you to do it.
On top of that, the edit profile tab needs to be 100% filled out and checked off.
Also you need to select the maximum amount of categories that apply to you. Selecting more (as long as they apply to you) is better!
Question 02What exactly changes, what stays the same?
Updated
- Services
- Categories
- Descriptions
- The "edit profile" section
Stays the same
- Business name
- Address
- Primary category
Only the services, categories, descriptions, and "edit profile" section are updated. Things like business name, address, or primary category stay the same.
Question 03What are the actual results?
Average increase in overall rankings from the GBP optimization alone.
Possible extra calls over the next 90 days, if this is all you did.
One time. That's the whole price for step one.
So what tangibly happens then?
If all you did was this optimization you would receive a possible increase of 10-50 calls over the next 90 days.
Which isn't a crazy amount... But that's because this is just the first step, and you are only paying $69.
Ready for step one?
One-time $69. Your profile set up exactly how Google wants it.
So essentially:
You are setting the foundation for Google and preparing yourself to move on to step 2, which is getting ongoing SEO, GEO, and AEO. (All of GridTier's plans are meant for both small businesses and large businesses, so we start at $197/mo.)
On top of that you are building trust with a marketing company without paying thousands hoping you find the right fit.
You get an extra 10-50 calls and get a 2-20x return on your small investment over the next 90 days.
You can also be 100% confident that your profile is perfect. No more doubts or worries that the services or categories are filled out correctly.
No more second looking. It's completed, and you move on to the next steps, so you can continue to grow the business.
About that "limit"Why Google has a ceiling
Lastly, I mentioned earlier about a "limit". That's because when it comes to Google, the pool of people in your addressable market (people who are actually willing to buy from you) is smaller than other potential customers.
Here's what I mean.
Think about all your potential customers that could work with you. They all fall into one of these 3 stages:
- Top of the funnelWhere most people are. They aren't super aware of the problems that you solve, or they don't even know that they have a problem.
- Middle of the funnelPeople who are aware they have a problem, but don't really know of any solutions.
- Bottom of the funnelPeople who have a problem, want to get it solved as soon as possible, and are aware they need to find a specific type of business to solve it.
That's where Google organic comes into play. It captures the bottom of the funnel. These bottom of funnel people are actively looking for a company.
Yes, there is a smaller amount of them. That's why big brands are forced to market to the top 2 (middle and top) as they grow, with channels like Meta ads. But until you hit $50k-100k per month, the focus should mostly be Google organic and intent based lead generation.
